Our second group class discussion was completed last night, Wednesday, March 10th. WOW what a lot of great information that was covered. I was completed impressed with the information regarding online storage. I did not know there were so many options for individuals to save information online. I could use this program for work and personal.
Work: There are so many different documents between our administrators and myself that we could utilize the online storage much more efficient. This would be especially useful when one is working at home but needs information. When we are all in the building we save on an Office share drive, but when one is not in the office at a meeting, they would not have access to documents and online storage would work wonderful!
Personal: When I have pictures of my kids to share with family out of town would be great. This would allow family be more connected with my family.
Skype webcams are going to be great! We use them in our district for interviews when we are hiring teachers since they are applicants that are out of town or traveling abroad. I am excited to start using it for my own classroom education.
I totally agree that there are many tech options, such as online storage that would lessen the burden on our district IT departments.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I don't know if you've noticed this at all, but as more and more things are going on line into to virtual world.... the more concerned I become with security. All of these sites claim to be secure and have security ratings, but what does that really mean? That could be a big block for districts switching over to online storage/sharing unless they can figure out a way to do it like Ning kinda does a FB-esk site.
Am I the only one thinking about this? Or are you thinking about this as well? Has anyone else? The more that is out there in cyberspace means that more can get lost/stolen or copied in theory.
