Managing a computer is a difficult task. This week we are to post our thoughts how we can improve the management of our computer(s) at home or at work, and what we think we need to know in order to ensure proper computer functioning and data safety.
Well...I am so not good at keep up with the anti-virus protection on my home computer. Work is a different story, however, home, I have been out of anti-virus for two (2) years and after taking this class I am just thinking how silly I am being. What a risk to take, as a computer person, I should know better. Isn't it "doctors make the worst patients" well...
In order to assure a proper functioning computer, we must assure that we are properly defragmenting the computer, which I do have my home computer set to do this once every two (2) weeks. By defragmenting I am assuring the system is running porperly with files in the proper locations.
Anti-virus is so important, there are so many things that can ruin an entire computer. I am just as guilty of not keeping up with this at home. At work, we have so many different types of protections, such as firewalls, anti-virus, arestotal which "screens" documents typed and websites for inappropriate content. The prinicpals get an e-mail through the system if a student or staff member uses an inapprorpiate website or types something inappropriate. This is so important having this when a district has students on the networks.
What I learned from this class is that I better be more aware of the protective softwares as well as just using the convenience of a home computer. Having a functioning system is vital!
