As we venture through class #2 of this course, Using Productivity Tools Effectively, I find it interesting the amount of search engines that are available to individuals. As most individuals utilize the engines that are most popular, it is interesting to view others and their features. Personally I use Google for most searching and online documents, but it is always good to have other resources.

Online documents is a feature that I have been utilizing through Google Docs. I find this feature to be extremely helpful when there are mutliple individuals in different buildings within our district collaborating on one document. This prevents multiple documents being saved on the network and mutliple copies which can be confused for the most accurate one. In the classroom, individuals/students could utilize Google Docs when working on group projects not only to assist in getting their information into one document, but students are not limited to working only during the school day. Google Docs and/or any online documents application can be access outside the classroom time as well. Plus, the teacher can monitor progress as long as rights are given to the instructor to view/edit.

  1. I agree with you, Mary. The ability a teacher has to monitor what her students are doing is a great tool. Hopefully this fall I can experiment with GoogleDocs not only with my students, but with several staff members as well.

I have to admit, I'm a Google Girl as well. I turn to Google for all my searches, but it rarely lets me down. I guess there's a reason that it's the largest!
